Acoustics

Noise is often one of the primary environmental considerations for industrial and logistics developments. We undertake baseline noise surveys and detailed noise impact assessments to support planning applications and inform the design process.

We assess noise from all relevant sources, including:

• Fixed mechanical plant such as HVAC systems, chillers, and generators
• Loading bays, dock levellers, and external handling areas
• HGV movements, delivery activities, and yard operations
• External processing plant and industrial equipment
• Emergency and standby plant

Our assessments are carried out in accordance with national and local planning guidance as well as BS 4142:2014+A1:2019 and other relevant British Standards and Guidance Documents. We work closely with the project teams to identify appropriate mitigation where required, such as plant selection, acoustic enclosures, screening, or operational controls. Our aim is to ensure compliance with planning requirements while maintaining efficient site operation.

We also provide post-completion noise surveys and compliance testing where required to support planning condition discharge and operational verification.

Air Quality

Air quality can also be an important consideration for industrial and logistics developments, particularly where sites include combustion plant, process emissions, or generate significant vehicle movements. We carry out detailed air quality assessments to support planning applications, including dispersion modelling where required.

This includes assessment of emissions from:

• Energy centres and combustion plant;
• Standby generators and backup power systems;
• Industrial processes where relevant;
• HGV and site traffic movements; and
• On-site plant and equipment.

Our assessments follow current national guidance and local authority requirements, providing robust evidence to support planning. Where necessary, we provide practical mitigation strategies to ensure compliance and minimise environmental impact.
